Rocket Science
On the 2nd September 2015 2 kilograms of rocket
seed were sent to the International Space Station and stored in microgravity by
Tim Peake, before the seeds were returned to Earth in spring 2016.
Year 2 were fortunate in being able to conduct an experiment
with two packets of the rocket seed.
One pack was blue and one pack was red. One of the seed
packets had been stored in space, the other hadn’t. We have no idea which is
which.
Our experiment, which
was kindly overseen by Dr. Ross consisted of both packets of seeds, red and
blue, being sown in identical conditions by Year 2 in an effort to discover
whether storing the seeds in microgravity made any difference to the
germination process.
